New Program Reduces Average A1c From 7.6 To 6.7

ALR Technologies Inc. (OTCBB: ALRT) has announced initial results from the (ECHO) Healthcare Education Foundation of Alabama comprehensive diabetes intervention program. The program, sponsored by ALRT, demonstrates a significant reduction in A1C values.

Test subjects in the program for 3 months showed significant changes in:

* Rates of self-monitoring of blood sugar
* Hemoglobin A1C values
* Frequency of aerobic exercise
* Adherence to medication recommendations
* Their participation in weight management programs
* Self evaluation of adherence to: self monitoring of blood sugar, diet and exercise

The average A1C score for participants dropped from 7.6 to 6.7. Levels below 7.0 are recommended by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and shown to reduce neuropathic and microvascular complications of Diabetes. Findings of the out of range group (with A1C over 7). Their A1C dropped from an average of 9.0 to 7.4. Previously, none of the participants had blood glucose scores below the critical 7 level and after 3 months 47 percent reached that important target.

Average frequency of self testing for blood glucose increased from 1.4 x per day to 3.1 x per day. Testing of the out of range group increased from 1.5 x per day to 3.5 x per day.

The pilot was implemented by (ECHO) Healthcare Education Foundation of Alabama. It was conducted with 33 Type Two Diabetics, 2 Type One Diabetics and 11 were pre-Diabetics.

The program is still ongoing. Data will be reported on a quarterly basis.
