Hypoglycemia During Exercise Feared By Type 1 Diabetics

According to a new clinical study, published in Diabetes Care Magazine, most diabetics avoid physical activity due to they worry about exercise-induced hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and severe consequences including loss of consciousness. More than 60% of adult diabetics are not physically active.

Vitamin K Slows Insulin Resistance In Elderly Men

Vitamin K slowed the development of insulin resistance in elderly men in a clinical study of 355 non diabetic individuals ages 60 to 80 who completed a three year clinical trial at the Jean Mayer Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University.

Poor Glycemic Control Leads To Coronary Artery Disease

A new clinical study led by scientists at the Joslin Diabetes Center and Harvard Medical School has found that a common genetic variant associated with an increased risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) in the general population is also linked to an even higher risk for people with Diabetes, particularly those with poor glucose control.

One In Three Americans To Develop Diabetes

According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA), if current trends continue, one in three Americans, and one in two minorities, born in the year 2000 will develop diabetes in their lifetime. In the United States, nearly 24 million children and adults have diabetes and 57 million have pre-diabetes.
